Hark! All Ye Hypocrites!

To the conservatives attending town hall meetings on health care this Summer:

You are hypocrites.

Not all of you, of course, but you know who you are.

As a rule, you rebuke college students that shout down conservative voices visiting their campuses. You reprimand Code Pink for their forays into organized civic functions. Given the opportunity, you reference every American's right to free speech protected in the first amendment.

And there you are, shouting down your fairly elected representative. Yelling and screaming, as though your point will be clearer with greater amplitude. Shame on you. Have you no conscience?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The poor behavior of one does not justify the same in another. Take the high road, people. Let your numbers and the validity of your argument speak for themselves.

I'll be attending Jim Moran's town hall meeting in Virginia's 8th congressional district on August 25th at 7:00 PM at South Lakes High School. Please join me, and let's behave:)

Your point is well taken. I think the reps/senators may be happy if the crowds get loud and unruley because then they can say "see, they're out of control". Kind of plays into their hands. But I don't think this will hurt the Repub party as is being claimed. My biggest fear is that someone will act violently.

I want to add to my previous comment. Left wing protests are much more out of control, loud, disrespectful and violent. This is what community organizers and ACORN promote. I wouldn't compare the people protesting against health care to the Left wing, ACORN-type protest. They may be loud and forceful, but their frustration is genuine. When the Left protests against anything it's said to be patriotic and their right to do so, but when people protest against the Obama administration's socialist agenda, it's a group of crazies set up by right wing sponsors. Go figure. So, I think the health care protesters need to be forceful while avoiding the violence that often erupts in a left-wing protest. So far, so good.

TheConservativeLady: be careful with the gross generalizations please - your bias is showing.

Fred: Who knows if the same people organizing these protests actually got mad at college students protesting conservative speakers? My guess is that they did, but I don't think anyone can prove it.

I agree that excessive unruliness can detract from an argument, but I haven't seen any clips that show people getting totally out of hand. What I really don't get is why they are trying to use the cash for clunkers program as evidence that the government can't get anything right. Hasn't it been an overwhelming success?

This clip is relevant and funny, so hopefully you guys will get a kick out of it (even though it features a liberal):

I went cash for clunkers shopping. It was a nightmare. It is also the government pushing us to drive what they feel is good enough for us to drive. Yes, people took advantage of it, but the vast majority of the dealerships have yet to be paid. So the last chapter on it's success has yet to be written. You can read about my experience at 912member.blogspot.com

During the tax day tea party in DC, the only people getting out of control was the code pink people who purposely were looking for a reaction from us. We ignored them and told them that is not why we were there.

I personally have no problem with anyone protesting. Regardless of how replusive I may find the message.

It is very unfair for the administration to take the shots at the protesters that they are taking. I am sure there is corporate money behind this somewhere. But that is no different than what acorn does. That is huge huge money, some of which comes from my tax dollars.

Fred, I will see you at the town hall!!

I may sound biased, but the truth of the matter is, left-wing protests are often disrespectful, unruly, loud and sometimes violent. Check out the link below.

The administration is trying to paint the health care protesters as being a "hire a mob". I think that's a gross generalization and definitely biased.

The Cash for Clunkers program is being used as an example because the administration underestimated how popular it would be by under-funding it (more proof that they are not capable of running a program). Unfortunately the program has been responsible for forcing taxpayers to partially foot the bill for people who were probably going to buy a car anyway in the near future; pumping up sales for foreign cars; depriving charities from receiving cars as donations; and for the destruction of perfectly good cars that were traded in. And, as just a conservative girl said, the dealerships haven't been paid yet. I don't think that's an overwhelming success.

WHAT?!

If the government put too much money into you would be pissed about that too.

I like they the underfunded it to ensure it worked first. What is wrong with being hesitant about a program at first.

Oh! Lets just go bomb Iran too, I bet that will work out well.

Maybe afterward we can forge documents to support an unwarranted attack.

I didn't want this to become a p*ssing match between you and me.

The reason I said that comment is exactly what I meant. The administration didn't fund the program fully and underestimated the cost of it because they didn't think it through enough to realize that so many people would come out to get free money. Of course people would take advantage of a deal like that. And now the Congress has to come back and ask for more money from the American taxpayer. American taxpayers should not be subsidizing car buyers or car companies.

The administration is doing the same thing with health care. They are underestimating the cost of this program and trying to sell it to the American people just like Cash for Clunkers. The CBO health care estimates are much higher and is not sustainable. At least the Cash for Clunkers program can be stopped at any time. Once you start giving people socialized health care, it will be impossible to stop. It will turn into another out of control, bankrupt program like Social Security and Medicare. Look at what the government has done with programs like SSN and Medicare. Why should we trust them with our health care?

There will never be enough money, they keep printing it, taxing us to death and our deficits will continue skyrocket. Our children and grandchildren will be on the hook for this.

People are frightened and genuinely concerned and that's why they are coming out to protest against health care/insurance reform.

Fred, I disagree. We have been silent for too long. These jerks are imposing their corrupt, liberal "fairness" Orwellian ideology on us. We need to fight. The most violent protests I have seen involved union thugs who injured various conservatives who showed up to protest. All others were just shout outs and booing. So what! They need to hear from US, not the other way around. I don't need to hear Howard Dean/Moran talk down to me about how we are #37 in the world according to WHO, and it isn't fair, blah blah. And, with the arrogant commentary from Pelosi, Obama himself and multiple other reps about how we are mobs and un-american, I think the American people don't want us to back down.

This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the U.S. Department of Energy.

I then took a shower in the clean water provided by a municipal water utility.

After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC-regulated channels to see what the National Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather was going to be like, using satellites designed, built, and launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

I watched this while eating my breakfast of U.S. Department of Agriculture-inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

At the appropriate time, as regulated by the U.S. Congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the U.S. Naval Observatory, I get into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration-approved automobile and set out to work on the roads build by the local, state, and federal Departments of Transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve Bank.

On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be sent out via the U.S. Postal Service and drop the kids off at the public school.

After spending another day not being maimed or killed at work thanks to the workplace regulations imposed by the Department of Labor and the Occupational Safety and Health administration, enjoying another two meals which again do not kill me because of the USDA, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to my house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and Fire Marshal's inspection, and which has not been plundered of all its valuables thanks to the local police department.

And then I log on to the internet -- which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration -- and post on Freerepublic.com and Fox News forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can't do anything right.
